These paintings are based on sketches and photographs that I took the summer of 2021 on a week long exploration of the spectacular Stone Mountain Provincial Park in Northern BC. It is a beautiful area of abundant wildlife, heavily eroding peaks, rushing rivers, long canyons, wide valleys, alpine lakes, vivid meadows and glacial moraines so old they are covered in a thick blankets of lush vegetation teeming with life.
Each individual painting is a moment from a particular day’s excursion into the backcountry. Seen as a whole, they are a cumulative landscape of a single small geographic area that tells the lands story, kilometre by kilometre, through its ever evolving living history.
